Case Study 1 The board of a venture backed second generation content management company was considering a CEO change. After an initial review, we presented sufficient data that the product was not ready for commercial release and although the market demand was initially there, it had disappeared and had been replaced with "good enough" solutions. The company was significantly downsized to conserve cash and we determined an additional application for the undeveloped technology, identified a buyer, and merged the technology and cash into another venture backed company with significant potential. We in effect created a second chance for the venture capitalists to earn a return.
Case Study 2
A publicly held technology company engaged us to perform a four phased strategy review. The first phase was to understand the reasons for disparate growth rates for market size by the major technology research firms. After conducting lengthy interviews with the research firms, we decomposed the overall market, providing segmentation analysis and determined individual growth rates for each segment. Our follow-on work with the company involved product development and technology road maps for the high growth segments.
Case Study 3 A high profile start-up developing disruptive technology for the corporate data center market had raised it's second round of financing from three top tier venture firms to expand it's distribution channel. The board became concerned at the lack of sales momentum and requested that we got involved to analyze the problem. Within 90 days, we performed both a quality and functionality review of the source code, interviewed 35 CIO and CTO on the potential demand for this new technology, and audited the maturity of the 45 prospects in the sales pipeline.
