Subsequent to a merger with another public company in the e-learning space, management of the acquiring company noted certain matters related to the acquired company's historical financial information and concluded that a restatement of prior year financial information, related principally to the timing of revenue recognition, accounting for business combinations and capitalization of certain costs was required. This restatement encompassed a three and a half year period. We were called in to direct the company's restatement efforts.

Working closely with the company's management, its outside auditors, lawyers and other advisors, we took on the task which required nine months of effort with more than eighty five people working on the project.

Case Study 2
We were contacted by a top telecommunications infrastructure provider to review various aspects of its billing department including a review of current billing procedures, data cleansing of multiple databases in anticipation of a major systems migration and to identify missed revenue opportunities from disconnected databases. During the course of our work, we uncovered incremental, missed and incorrect billings totaling in excess of $4.5mm. Our findings led to recommendations for the restructuring of the department to realign resources with transactional needs, for improved data entry procedures, monitoring and reporting to management. During the data cleanse of the data bases, we were successful in identifying disconnected data between each of the databases and led the effort to correct the data and match the databases to improve the efficiency of the organization as well as reduce the possibilities of incorrect and missed billings.
